Will Nanotechnology Lead To Chaos (PODCAST MP3)

The development of molecular manufacturing—an advanced form of nanotechnology—will be a hinge point in history. Like the invention of the printing press, steam engines, and computers, molecular manufacturing will transform business, industry, social structures, and the balance of world power. The question is not if, but when. . .

Mike Treder, Executive Director, Center for Responsible Nanotechnology, speaks at the 1st Annual Workshop on Geoethical Nanotechnology

THE FUTURE IS COMING: The Nanofactory

One area I follow very closely is the advancement of science and technology. A favorite cartoon I used to watch as a kid was the Jetsons. It appears many of the gadgets dreamed about by Hanna and Barbera in the Jetsons may be closer to reality than we think. This animation was released during the past week that demonstrates how manufacturing will occur using nanotechnology. The creation of this piece was directed by a world authority on nanotechnology Eric Drexler. Imagine a desktop nanofactory that could manufacture anything you wanted... from a fork and spoon, to a computer. It could happen in the next 10-15 years.
